At first you need to know whether you’re eligible to import vehicle or not. Well, any Pakistani national is eligible to import or gift a vehicle if he’s not a student receiving remittance from Pakistan, not a non-earning member of a Pakistani family and or not a Pakistani national who have imported, gifted or received a vehicle during the last two years.

Looking at the first requirement, if you’re eligible, you can import vehicle as personal baggage or on Transfer of Residence or as gift.

Now coming to the types of vehicles you can import: you cannot import a vehicle more than five years old under gift, personal baggage and transfer of residence scheme, but it doesn’t mean you cannot import such vehicles at all. Check out the latest version of Trade Order for such type of vehicles.

Failing to Signal |

What is the most dangerous thing that you can do when you are driving on a crowded roadway with other drivers? Failing to signal is the perhaps one of the most dangerous things that drivers can do (or not do) when they are driving because using your turn signal lets other drivers know what your intentions are while you are traveling on a major road, highway or street.

Why is failing to signal so dangerous? The following example may help to illustrate the point. While driving on the highway last week, I was in the far right lane, when a fairly large size sport utility vehicle merged into my lane from the far left lane without indicating what their intentions were. Because of their actions, I had to slam on my brakes because as soon as they got into my lane, they immediately slowed down. Things like this can cause a series of unfortunate chain reactions if drivers aren’t attentive.

In another example of failing to signal, I witnessed a driver, during rush hour, merge from the left lane into the right lane without signaling, which caused the drivers to slam on their brakes. One driver actually had to swerve into the lane next to him in order to avoid crashing into the other driver in front of him.

Finally, the most common type of failure to signal that I have witnessed in the North Carolina area has been when a driver is driving on a straight path and is preparing to make a right hand turn. However, before they make the turn, they in no way shape or form indicate that they are preparing to turn. As a result, what happens? They slow down to make the turn, but the other drivers behind the person don’t realize that they are preparing to turn, which causes drivers to have to slam on their brakes. And for the unlucky person who is not paying attention, there is an excellent chance that they will become involved in a vehicular accident.

While I am driving, there are many people who don’t use their turn signals while driving. However, why is it that this is the case? Why are so many people opposed to using turn signals? After all, there is a reason why there are turn signals in all vehicles. Before turn signals existed, people would signal where they were going to turn by putting their arms out of the car windows. You can see the remnants of this, with cyclists. Every time a cyclist shares the roadway with other vehicles, they are supposed to use arm signals in order to indicate where they are going. Not only is this a safety precaution for them, but it is also a safety precaution for other people who are behind the wheel of vehicles.

No matter who you are with or where you are driving, or even if you are on the roadways by yourself, it is a good idea to develop good driving habits beginning with learning how to use your turn signals. It will greatly benefit the drivers around you.

Ideally, when you want to go out anywhere, and you are driving your personal vehicle, you should always make every effort to secure everything in your car before you leave. The reason for this is because criminals will often scan parking lots or other common areas and will actually watch people as they sit in their cars and fidget around while they try to hide whatever it is that they don’t want you to see. However, what they don’t realize is that it is too late; someone is watching where they are putting their various items.

There are various items that people carelessly leave out in their vehicles such as cell phones, loose change or actual paper bills and jewelry to name a few. Why jewelry, you may wonder? The simpler explanation for why this is most often an occurrence is due to the fact that when many people go to the gym or go to a park to exercise, they will often take off their rings, earrings, bracelets and/or necklaces so that they are less restricted while they exercise or work out. However, what they often fail to realize is that jewelry is something that you should really take care of ahead of time at home. For example, if you know that you want to attend the gym to work out and you are not a person who likes to wear jewelry while you exercise, make sure that you store it before you get into your car. If you, for some reason, prefer to keep it in your vehicle, then at least make sure that you bring an opaque bag to put the items in, or at best, place your jewelry out of sight in an area of your vehicle that is covered such as your glove box, under your seat or in the middle console area (if it is covered).

There is no reason why you shouldn’t secure your vehicle. Whenever you exit your vehicle, you should always conduct a quick, last minute scan of everything inside of the car to make sure that there is nothing tempting that is left out- even things that you may not think are tempting to a thief. When I was a police officer, I responded to call of a car break in. It turns out that the person had just come back from the laundry mat and had a bunch of clothes careless thrown in the back seat of their car. The person who broke into their car walked by and glanced in the window. Seeing all of the clothing strewn about, the thief actually thought that the person was trying to cover something up, and therefore, the thief broke into the car. Whenever you are traveling somewhere, make sure that your car is locked and that you leave your vehicle looking as empty as possible so that no one is even remotely tempted to break into it.

It may sound odd but this is really quite common in any American household or any household in the world.  Just try to remember when you were much younger and your mother was having the hundredth discussion with your father about selling, donating or anything just to let go of a particular car in your garage. The Infiniti engine costs too much to maintain she’d say. You’re replacing every little part of that car. The parts are hard to find, new parts are expensive, and on and on.  I sympathize with that since I still have one of those in my garage and my husband still does not want to sell it. We shell out around several hundred dollars every couple of months because another part or so will need to be replaced. The car is 6 years old. It’s not easy to find specific parts and true to form with the law of supply and demand the rarer it is (or in this case older) the more costly it is.

I think for most people this is more a sentimental issue than if the decisions we have for keeping a car is practical. Consumer reports do say that once a car hits above the 6th year mark the engine parts start to wither and fade. The Infinity engine in my garage is no different. It does not matter that my husband baby’s that car. It’s a fact of life that at around the 6th year mark engines have given their base price a run for its money. Even the Hyundai engine of my sister’s favorite metallic sky blue vehicle is bit by bit being replaced and the mechanic now knows my sister’s number by heart. My husband’s Infiniti engine is sentimental because it is the kind of vehicle he had always dreamed of owning: Something big, sturdy and fierce looking with an even bolder 6 cylinder Infiniti engine. I also love riding in it; however, I’m a practical person and if once one part is replaced I have nightmares about what other part will die next and when it just steals the fun.

A family friend suggested that we try having the whole engine replaced and my eyes almost popped out. They took me to the computer and opened several sites up just to illustrate that had I done that earlier it would ultimately have saved me a lot of money. Buying a used engine definitely gives you more peace of mind than replacing parts one after the other every time something breaks down.  I liked the idea that before the engine is shipped to you it goes through stringent tests and checking processes. My used Infiniti engine’s each and every part would have been evaluated by a qualified mechanic that viewed the performance of the machine not just by its part but as a whole. And with the one year standard warranty most companies provide I could have slept more soundly. I’ll have to talk to my sister about her Hyundai Engine, so she can sleep more soundly, too.

Hyundai engine have a great reputation for lasting well above the 100,000 suggested mileage usage. Contact an online Hyundai engine dealer and you can see that they do several tests to ensure that they are selling a quality engine. My sister should be able to still save her pocket book if she takes advantage of this grand idea.
