Direct Mail Advertising Services – Top Guidelines to Maximize Response to Marketing Campaigns |

January 25th, 2010

Author: Daljeet Sidhu

Direct mail campaigns are an excellent way of advertising the products, services and offers of a business. They are not meant to sell the goods but to create leads for potential sales. They are truly effective if their content and delivery is planned and thought all the way through.

Direct mails are targeted at a specific section of people, either existing or potential customers. Here are some guidelines on how you can use them to your advantage and some things you should avoid.

Select a target audience carefully

Direct mails are not as costly as television ads, but you should use the money wisely. Examine the target audience carefully. Are they good candidates for buying again? Have they made sizeable purchases from your company before? It is a good idea not to distribute the mailing in one shot. Send it out to a small group of people and analyze the response. If the response is good, distribute the rest of the mailers.

Test the direct mail

The copy of the direct mail should be exciting and intriguing so that it compels readers to read through it. Use the mailing on a small group to test the efficacy of the content. Many companies prefer sending postcard mailers as recipients will at least glance at it even though postcards do not offer much space for the advertisement. Direct mail in envelopes can be more elaborate, but they need more initiative from the reader, as in pulling the mailer out of the envelope.

Personalize the mailer

Direct mailing should be personalized. This makes customers feel valued and worthy of being addressed directly by the business. Address the customers by name in the mailer, make references to previous purchases or something similar to include a personal touch.

Start with the benefits

The direct mail should start with the benefits to customer. If readers do not see a gain immediately, there is a good chance they will not read the mailer. Grand finales do not have a place in direct mail copy.

Describe the benefits to the customer

Customers do not want to know about the exciting new features of your products and services unless they benefit from them in some way. Does the product save money? Does it save time? Does it make their life easier? The mailer should highlight the customer benefits of what you are promoting. Customers should feel that they would prosper by taking affirmative action.

Keep it simple and pertinent

Readers do not have the patience to read mail that is lengthy and looks complicated. Use readable format that includes a lot of whitespace. Avoid jargon and decorative phrases. The mail letter should be simple, succinct and contain only relevant information. Keep the focus on the benefits to customers and not on the greatness of your company.

Direct mails are a cost-effective and valuable means of marketing. However, they are only as effective as the time and thought that is put into their creation and release. Businesses are advised to follow the aforementioned guidelines to get the most out of direct mailings.

Direct Mail Marketing Service – What Are the Implications of the Do Not Mail Registry? |

January 25th, 2010

Author: Daljeet Sidhu

Direct mail (DM) marketers and providers are on full alert since the Senate Consumer Protection and Housing Committee addressed the Do Not Mail registry bill. However, an in-depth understanding of the bill and its implications should allay direct marketer’s fear of reduced business and low response rates.

The introduction of Do Not Mail registries has been legislated in twelve states of United States including Washington, Texas, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan. If direct marketers violate the law, they are liable to pay $2,000 as fine. This is the charge per violation. If the bill is passed, these states will maintain a database of residents that have opted out of receiving DMs.

The Do Not Mail registry will, in fact, save costs for direct marketers, as long as they avoid violations. The following points should help direct marketers take an objective view of the Do Not Mail bill.

Targeted mailings boost sales

Direct mails are effective only if they reach the right hands. Though the Do Not Mail registry reduces the number of DM recipients, it also brings the interested audience into greater focus. The ratio of the number of direct mails to actual sale leads will increase. This is a positive indication for the business.

More relevant direct mails to appropriate customers

The Do Not Mail bill boosts response rates, as customers will receive DM they are interested in as opposed to irrelevant advertisements. This is again good for the marketers as more of the mailers are reaching the appropriate audience and converting into sale leads. This saves the cost of wasted direct mails.

Avoiding inadvertent infractions

Direct marketers need to use advanced screening services to have a mailing list that does not include any name on the Do Not Mail registry. The information on the list should be complete, accurate and current. The list should also be able to accommodate supplementary information to drive variable elements. Direct marketers need to be extremely vigilant that they do not send a mailer to a citizen included in the Do Not Mail registry. The fine will prove devastating with repeated violations. Mailings should be extremely targeted and sent only to a select few.

Use VDP to make mailings more receptive

Variable Data Printing (VDP) is a modern DM technology that allows personalization of direct mail. Customers receive personalized mailers more favorably than general advertisements. Relevance and personalization increase the effectiveness of DM by almost 500%. Personalization also assures that the business does not lose out on a customer for whom the DM is actually meant, and also assures the customer will check out DMs from the company in the future too.

Direct mails are still popular among people

Contrary to expectations, DMs are still the most popular form of advertising amongst citizens. Even if the direct mail is irrelevant to recipients, they have a choice to not read it or throw it away. This is unlike unwanted calls where there is no way out. The Do Not Call registry is similar to the Do Not Mail registry as both intend to curb marketers. However, DM is not as intrusive or pervasive as telemarketing and spam emails. That is why DMs are still the most effective marketing tool.

If the marketing industry puts in more effort to ensure they target the right audience and send only relevant mails, many people may opt to have their name removed from the Do Not Mail registry. It is in the hands of direct marketers to stem further legislation by improving their own services and efficacy. This way, customers get only the information they want and direct marketers see increased return on investment (ROI).

Making Money Online is Not Hard to Do |

January 25th, 2010

Author: J. Snyder

A great recession proof way to earn money is by going online. That’s right; one of the best ways to earn today in our economic climate is to start makeing money online because it really is not that hard to do.

It has been estimated that making an income online is one of the fastest growing business opportunities today. It sure beats getting up every morning and fighting the traffic to the shop or office. The daily 9 to 5 grind does not have to be so mundane as we have let it become. There are other ways to earn an income than working for the man. You can have your own Internet marketing business.

One of the first things we need to understand is what system is the most profitable way to make money online. Actually there are so many ways to begin making money online that someone just starting out can get absolutely bogged down under the mass of information out there on the World Wide Web. So let me give you two of the simplest ways to earn not only extra income but eventually a very good full time income.

1.Consider makeing money Online with Google Adsense. If you are using Google to search for anything Online then you are seeing these advertisements on every page Google gives you. They are located both on the top of the page and to the right side of the search page. These are paid advertisements and if you place these on your own blog or website you will make a commission every time someone clicks on one of the ads. The downside with using Adsense for your main money earner is that it takes mega traffic to make a lot of money. I have many adsense ads on my sites but I also sell products which make much more money on them as well.

2.Consider makeing money Online with affiliate marketing. This may be the number one way that most people attempt to earn Online. Basically all you do is send targeted traffic to a website and earn commissions of up to 75%. This is not as hard as it sounds and is something that can be learned by just about every one who can use a computer. Now you do not have to be a programmer or even a whiz bang computer nerd to make this succeed. If you can turn on your computer and send an email you can manage affiliate marketing once you learn the ropes. Because of the higher commissions that are paid, especially for digital products like e-books, you can make a lot of money with less traffic than you need for Adsense.

Both of these ways of makeing money online work the best as you build smaller niche markets one at a time. As you build your small empire of web pages and blogs, this is extremely easy once you know how and anybody can learn, you will be blown away at the amount of income that you can bring in.

January 25th, 2010

Author: Katie Marcus

With the recent trend in our economy, many businesses are deduced to working on a budget, Hence, they focus on just making ends meet most of the time.

Business owners are trying to hold on for dear life to their businesses, employers on to their employees, and everyone is looking at being secure and stable despite the economic downturn because any time in the future they might find themselves out of the picture.

Thus, many businesses do not improve to their fullest potential because they are too focused in trying to be alive in the present. Many businesses right now are fixated on trying to stay afloat that they do not see the potential for them to really shine during these trying times.

Many experts have said it not just once or twice – this is precisely the right time for any business owner to grow and change positively. The poor economy does not mean that businesses should stop strategizing. On the contrary, poor economies should help business owners to rise up to the challenge. With a well thought out plan and strategy, businesses can definitely develop their potential to grow and be successful in their industry.

Here are things you can do to strategize in the coming New Year to help you get a new lease for your business.

Set your goals.

However, be sure to have realistic and specific ones. In addition, make sure that you will be able to meet your goal by knowing very clearly how you can get there. Realistic means setting your goal to reach three clients per month for example. You would want your brochure printing to bring in at least one new customer per month. You can easily accomplish these realistic and specific goals. By offering your company with concrete and easy-to-implement ways to accomplish your goals, it can go a long way in getting your people on track with your objectives despite the downturn in the economy.

Be positive.

Always believe that there is a ray of light despite the clouds. Be honest with your people and give them choices and alternatives so they can begin saving or preparing for the rough times ahead. If you can tell them that you cannot promise good times but there is surely a way to get through the situation together, then it would be better to do so than make them a promise that you know very well you cannot keep.

Be open to changes.

Do not get stuck with what worked before and never try out new strategies for your business. These are exceptionally different times. You need to work more, be creative and innovative in order for your business to stay intact. Consider other options to market your business. In fact, consider new ideas to increase employee performance. Provide bonuses and commissions every time an employee is able to generate leads. You will soon see that your other employees would want to get in the scheme because they would want to get extra income as well. More employees working to achieve your goal means more profits as a result.

Just remember that marketing in these tough times would definitely be tough. Nevertheless, the New Year can mark a new lease in life for your business. So be creative. Open up new ideas to make sure that you not only stay afloat but also grow in the process as well.

Trade Show Displays – Maximize Your Exposure and Profits with Exhibition Stands |

January 25th, 2010

Author: Michiel Van Kets

One of the best ways to drum up new business and interest your target prospects is through your trade show displays at the many exhibitions held around Australia. Hardly a week goes by without an important show or exhibition and attending these gives you the chance to put your sales message before targeted prospects. Judicious use of roll up and pull up banners and display stands can give you that marketing edge you need to beat your competitors.

The fact is that decision makers in your target market attend these trade shows looking for solutions to their problems and for systems that they can apply to their businesses. All of these offer your great potential profits but only if you do things right.

Doing things right here means getting your message clearly and effectively in front of your prospective customers. You need to communicate the benefits of your products and services in a way that inspires your prospects and convinces them that your offerings are the right ones for them.

In other words, you need to be able to demonstrate the effectiveness and quality of your products and services in a way that will transform browsers into buyers. But how do you do that with all the distraction and competition of the average trade fair which is cluttered with exhibition stands all vying for the same audience?

One way to give yourself an edge is through the effective use of trade show displays. Effective displays can help to animate your solutions and demonstrate value to passing browsers who are easily distracted. Fortunately, you have an array of cutting edge tools to choose from including roll up and pull up banners.

Your marketing message is printed in high resolution on graphic films. These are then laminated for durability and exhibited through the use of banner stands. These stands come in a wide range of styles including single and double sided, cassette rollers, telescopic, tension, rigid, motorized and spring. They can be retractable, roll up, or pull up.

Such devices can be prepared to vividly project your sales message and present your products and services in a way that instantly catches your prospects attention. What’s more they can be quickly and seamlessly adapted and expanded allowing you to easily adapt your marketing message as conditions dictate.

The great thing about these trade show displays is that they can be set up in advance and then they’re ready to go at the event itself. This is achieved through the retractable mechanism which allows your displays to be rolled up into a compact space for transport and then unrolled at the event itself. Once you reach the venue, just unlock the bottom case, slide up the banner and attach to the pole stand. You can also get motorized stands which present long messages via a scrolling or rotating panel. Lightweight, portable and convenient, they’re the perfect devices to take your message around the country in the easiest and most effective way possible.

One example of a modern roll up banner is the Banner Bug. This lightweight item comes in both one and two sided models and stores your graphics in the heavy duty retractable base until needed. You can choose from sizes ranging from 8 1/2″ to 72″ widths which should cover every need.

What’s more, these exhibition devices are made of durable plastic, metal and mesh wire and are very easy to keep clean. The exhibition environment is a rugged one. Your equipment has to be transported, assembled and disassembled. It makes sense to acquire a quality product will give you years of trade show and exhibition use.

One great benefit of using these cutting edge display stands is that being able to change displays on the fly allows you to test and compare your various marketing messages and so determine the most effective. Real time testing of the effectiveness of your displays can give you a vital edge in the competitive business world.

Brochure stands are a key component in the process of presenting the literature that makes up your product and sales message – the brochures, fliers, spec sheets and catalogues that can transform interested browsers into customers.

Using modern exhibition tools such as exhibition stands allows you to really stand out from your competition and inspire confidence in your company’s professionalism and cutting edge status.

So whether it’s pull up banners in Brisbane, or display stands in Sydney, make sure you’re using the latest in trade show displays and exhibition stands in your next trade show event in Australia.

Trade Show Exhibits: The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly… |

January 25th, 2010

Author: Angela Desalva

When it comes to tradeshow exhibits they follow suit with the famous Clint Eastwood movie “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. Some of them are good. Some of them are bad. And some of them are just plain old ugly.

If you are a member or owner of a business who is involved in tradeshows and similar events…where exhibits are your connection to the public (aka your customers)…than when it comes to these events you definitely want to be a part of the Good category in regards to your displays.

The Good.

The Good includes the best of the best. These are the exhibits that have a lot of traffic and a lot of Buzz. The reason they are in the good column is because they have put in some combination of the following elements: money, time, good organization, creativity, risk, and careful planning. But especially they have come up with a good exhibit design and have included eye grabbing elements like interactive displays, a good team of people, and interesting products or services to promote.

You have to earn your way into the good column when it comes to the tradeshow world. And once you are there it doesn’t end there. Once in the good column the key is to continue to do the same things that got you there. Such as trying new and fresh things in regards to promotion and exhibit design in order to stay on top of attracting customers to your booth.

Often those members of the good column take advantage of some of the great design tools out there. Such as the types of design technology that exists. Including and not limited to: including certain tradeshow design elements such as stretched fabric displays, pop up display units and hanging signs, portable flooring systems, podiums/pedestals/other accessories such as monitor/promotional material racks, etc. The list goes on and on and the main idea is to find which of these elements fit in best with your exhibit design dreams.

The main key is to be fresh and unique and to have something that allows your exhibit and therefore your company to stand out in peoples minds. This will surely get you into the good column.

The Bad.

These are those exhibits that are caught in the past. Using old tradeshow trends and “technology” can get you into the bad column and find your company standing out at the show but not because of your cool exhibit but rather because of your terrible exhibit. An old tablecloth thrown over your table with a few chairs and two older salesmen in suits standing in the booth does not scream “come over here and find out what we have to sell or what we are about.” No! Instead it screams “welcome to the most boring place on earth.”

If your company’s old exhibit that used to consistently draw them in doesn’t seem to be doing the trick anymore well there is probably a reason. But there is still hope…even if you don’t know the new trends or a good creative way for your company to turn it all around…as there are company’s out there that can help you figure this stuff out. Now is the time to make a change. What else do you have to risk you are already in the Bad column, things can’t get any worse. Give it a shot and get some help in regards to your next exhibit.

The Ugly.

The words speak for themselves…they are exhibits that are not visually or structurally pleasing to the eye. Even though they might be displays that have even tried to implement technology or they might even have a few cool design elements the truth is that in order for an exhibit to be truly successful it must be aesthetically pleasing.

Customers at tradeshow events are either turned on or off to exhibits based on what the exhibit looks like so if your exhibit is an ugly one (whether it is a terrible colour scheme, bad images, or shapes that are chosen) than you should not and better not expect too much traffic. And if you have experienced this where you think you have a pretty neat exhibit but no one seems to be stopping by your booth well maybe the truth is that it is just plain old ugly, and maybe you don’t see it. However, don’t fear and remember at least you are not in the bad column. A few minor changes (and therefore little dollars) could turn your failed exhibit attempt into a true exhibit of great domination; in turn generating a lot more traffic and hopefully more sales and publicity for your company and products/services. It is never too late to turn an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. Maybe it is just a colour change away.
